Transfer News: The wage cost Tottenham Hotspur will incur to loan Gareth Bale again from Real Madrid

A report by football.london mentions that Tottenham Hotspur have the first option to bring Gareth Bale back to the club in the summer on a loan transfer from Real Madrid.

Bale left Real Madrid last summer to join Jose Mourinho’s Spurs on a one-year-long loan deal. The Welshman previously spent 6 years at Spurs before making the move to Spain in 2013.

The 31-year-old was struggling for gametime under Zinedine Zidane but has found minutes easy to come by in the past few months. This is due to him picking up form after a slow start to his Spurs return.

And the report states that Tottenham can re-sign Bale on a loan deal this summer on the same deal as they have him on now. That means paying a weekly wage of approximately £240,000-a-week which makes up about 40% of his wages at Madrid.

A double-edged sword

The question now arises if that kind of money is wise to spend on a layer that will 32 by the end of this year and has been plagued by injuries in the past. There is no doubt that Bale is shown what he is capable of in recent weeks.

He has 8 goals and 1 assist in his last 8 Premier League games for Spurs. But one concern that would pop up is the fact that he has not played 90 minutes in any league game so far this campaign. (h/t transfermarkt)

His current wage is some serious dough no matter what team is paying it. If he stays, Spurs would have a potent winger who can change the game all on his own whenever he wants to.

But if they do let him go, fans would be satisfied if the money saved on his wages is invested in a new signing that can take over Bale’s spot on the right-wing next season.
