Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reveals an interesting fact about what went on behind the scenes in the aftermath of Roma’s sacking of De Rossi.

According to Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni, the situation at Roma after Daniele De Rossi’s dismissal was particularly complex.

In addition to the already known names of Stefano Pioli and Francesco Farioli, Zazzaroni reveals that in recent days Roma had also tried to contact Xavi, fresh from his experience on the Barcelona bench.

However, the Catalan coach politely rejected the offer.

This refusal led the club to definitively turn to Juric who was able to obtain an important win vs Udinese in his first game as Roma’s head coach.
