But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees the midfield position as more pressing, according to the MEN.

This is down to the uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba's future at the club.

Pogba is out of contract next year and United have made little progress on a new deal.

PSG have shown a strong interest in the World Cup winner, but it is unclear if they will move from him now or wait until his contract expires.

United have been linked with a several midfielders, but a glut at the position means there would likely need to be departures this summer.

Declan Rice, Eduardo Camavinga, Saul Niguez and Leon Goretzka have all been linked with the club.

Rennes whizkid Camavinga has voiced his desire to join a club in Spain, while Rice is expected to stay at West Ham United for another season.

Goretzka is haggling with Bayern Munich over a new contract but prefers to remain in Bavaria.

Atletico Madrid are open to selling Saul, who is also coveted by Barcelona and Liverpool.
