Manchester United have pulled back from talks for Independiente del Valle whiz Moises Caicedo.
The Manchester Evening News says talks over a move for Caicedo, 19, were compromised by the involvement of various intermediaries and a source told the MEN the deal became 'too messy' for United to proceed.
Another source revealed Caicedo was willing to work with whoever could engineer a transfer to United and described negotiations as a 'clusterf---'. United were wary of the number of intermediaries at an early stage of discussions.
United were working on a €6million deal for Independiente del Valle midfielder Caicedo but that claims in his homeland of an 'official' deal were inaccurate.
United have decided to pursue the highest-rated teenage talents around the world, having previously preferred to focus on long-term targets aged between 23 and 28. Caicedo only turned 19 in November but made his Ecuador debut in October and has attained four caps.
Brighton are regarded as favourites for Caicedo in Germany.
