Fulham failed in an ambitious move to sign Moussa Dembele from Lyon this month, according to Football Insider.

The Cottagers made enquiries about bringing the Frenchman back to west London from the French side.

However, Dembele had his sights set on a move to Atletico Madrid, where he has since transferred.

The 24-year-old had his heart set on the Atletico move, and Fulham could not compete with the terms they were offering.

Dembele signed with Fulham in 2012 and spent four years at Craven Cottage before joining Celtic in 2016.
