Revealed: Duvan Zapata turned down Roma in the summer prior to Torino move | OneFootball

Former Atalanta attacker Duvan Zapata is said to have turned down a move to Roma earlier in the summer.

The Colombian attacker had been linked with the Giallorossi late in the summer transfer window as their main option to strengthen the attack.

Eventually, nothing came of the transfer and Roma focused on acquiring Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea instead, with Zapata headed to Torino.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Zapata himself rejected the Giallorossi’s proposal because of how it was formulated: Roma did not offer any guarantees with regards to making his transfer permanent.

Jose Mourinho’s side had offered a loan with option to buy with a potential long-term contract worth €2.7 million. Zapata refused because he was already making €3 million at Atalanta and preferred choosing Torino where the loan will result in a guaranteed obligation to buy at the end of the season for a total fee of €10 million.
