West Ham star Declan Rice is set to miss England’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria tonight, Football Insider can reveal.
The Irons star missed training yesterday due to a virus after starting Friday’s shock 2-1 defeat to the Czech Republic.
An England source has told Football Insider that Rice is still feeling unwell and is now set to sit out the clash at the Vasil Levski National Stadium this evening.
Manager Gareth Southgate is planning to replace Rice in the starting XI with Harry Winks as he rejigs the team ahead of the second away qualifier in four days.
West Ham fans will now be concerned about whether the 20-year-old will be able to play when the Premier League programme returns this weekend.
The Hammers travel to Everton for a 12.30pm kick-off aiming to maintain their solid start to the campaign.
Manuel Pellegrini will be eager to be able to call upon Rice, who is firmly established as the first choice midfield anchorman.
He has started all eight of West Ham’s league matches this season, and played the full 90 minutes in each game.
Rice has started to establish himself as a key player in the England team as well, winning his fifth cap in midfield against the Czech Republic.
However, he was widely criticised for his performance in what many observers claimed was the worst performance by Southgate’s side in a long time.
In other West Ham news, it can be REVEALED that an attacker has told the club he will sign for them after snubbing extension from Premier League giants.
