An update on the future of Barcelona starlet Pau Cubarsí has come to the fore online.

And the news will no doubt be met with excitement on the part of all of those of a Barcelona persuasion desperate to see him stay put in Catalunya’s capital for years to come.

The name of stopper Cubarsí has of course found itself front and centre in the headlines in Spain for several months now.

As much comes with the Spaniard, despite being just 17 years of age, having established himself as an integral member of the aforementioned Barca’s backline.

Since first being afforded the chance to impress amid a personnel crisis at the heart of the Blaugrana’s defence following the turn of the year, Cubarsí has not looked back.

All told, La Masia’s latest groundbreaking talent has racked up no fewer than nine La Liga appearances, all but one of which came by way of starts.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of a host of clubs from across the continent beginning to sniff around Cubarsí’s signature.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, all of Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, as well as German heavyweights Bayern Munich, are more than keen to land the young Spaniard.

This comes in no small part owing to the fact that Cubarsí’s current contract, signed last summer through 2026, contains a release clause set at a measly €10 million.

Thankfully for the Barcelona brass, however, their defensive standout has long made clear that he has absolutely no intention of departing the club.

Negotiations over the terms of a new deal, as a result, will imminently be kickstarted with Cubarsí’s entourage.

And, as per MD, the plan is for an initial verbal accord to be sought, which would see the parties agree to a future long-term contract, featuring a new, mammoth release clause.

Cubarsí is technically not permitted to sign a contract spanning more than three years, until he turns 18.

On the day of his 18th birthday, next January, it is therefore expected that the defender will officially commit to a deal through the summer of 2030, featuring a €1 billion release clause.
