CARSON, Calif. – The Leagues Cup 2025 Quarterfinals continued with the Los Angeles Galaxy earning a 2-1 win against CF Pachuca on Wednesday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, USA.
The Galaxy got on the board in the 27’ off an Alonso Aceves own goal. A quick corner kick caught Pachuca off guard and the set piece delivery from Marco Reus across the box deflected off the sliding defender past his own goalkeeper.
Just ten minutes later they doubled the advantage off a textbook counterattack. Joseph Paintsil did the hard work, taking on defenders then connecting with Matheus Nascimento, whose pass back across the box deflected off a defender and fell perfectly to Reus for an easy finish in the box.
Pachuca was on the hunt most of the second half to keep their tournament hopes alive, but Novak Micovic was strong in net with five saves and the clean sheet.
Pachuca got a late goal in the 90’+7’ after Kenedy chipped a pair of defenders before feeding Alemāo, who played it off his chest and smashed a volley.
LA Galaxy will meet Seattle Sounders FC in the Semifinals next Wednesday to decide the second finalist in the 2025 edition.
