Manchester United midfielder Casemiro’s form has continued to plummet with the Brazilian starting only three games this Premier League season with his last start coming in the defeat against arch-rivals Liverpool last month.

He was hooked at half-time in that particular game with Erik ten Hag since preferring a midfield partnership of Kobbie Mainoo and Christian Eriksen.

Summer recruit Manuel Ugarte’s involvement is expected to increase while Mason Mount is nearing a return, both of which could further hamper the former Real Madrid superstar’s chances of starting games.

The 32-year-old looks well off the pace while his penchant for diving into tackles often results in counter attacks by the opposition with Casemiro then struggling to track back.

Casemiro will be sold

As per reports, the Red Devils are desperate to move him on and were in fact trying to do so in the summer but for the manager to intervene while concrete bids also did not arrive.

As relayed by The Peoples Person before, the defensive midfielder is also keen to leave Manchester as early as January. But a move back to his homeland can be safely ruled out as per journalist Jorge Nicola.

He told Bolavip that the Red Devils plan to move him on if they manage to recoup a decent fee for a player they paid £70 million for two years ago.

As for the player, he expects a similar salary to the one he is receiving at Old Trafford currently, which is around £450,000 per week including bonuses (as per capology), the highest in the current squad.

A return to Brazil off the cards

“There is no chance of that happening. Casemiro has the highest salary at Manchester United (£18.2 million per year). There is zero chance of him playing in Brazil,” the journalist said.

“If the midfielder leaves English football, it will be in exchange for financial compensation to United and for a league that can pay him a salary close to what he earns today.”

The likes of Palmeiras and former club São Paulo have been linked with a move but they cannot hope to compete with the Saudi Pro League, which is Casemiro’s most likely next destination as per the report.

The midfielder’s current United deal is valid until 2026, with an option for another year but this is likely to be his final season in red. Whether he departs in January or next summer remains to be seen.
