On Tuesday evening in Luque, Paraguay, CONMEBOL held the draw for the 2020 Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana tournaments.
Defending Copa Libertadores Flamengo were drawn in Group A with 2019 Copa Sudamericana champions Independiente del Valle, Junior de Barranquilla, and the first of the four qualifiers from the third round (likely to be Cerro Porteño or Sporting Cristal).
2019 finalists River Plate will have a very tough time on their hands, as they have been drawn with São Paulo, Ecuadorian runners-up LDU Quito, and Peruvian champions Binacional.
Boca Juniors have been matched up with Paraguay’s Libertad, Caracas of Venezuela, and an unnamed fourth club (likely to be either Atlético Tucumán or Independiente de Medellín).
The 2020 Copa Libertadores final will be held at the famous Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 21 November, while the Sudamerica final will be held at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Córdoba on 7 November.
