GUADALUPE, Mexico – CF Monterrey Femenil won 5-nil win against Frazsiers Whip to get its first win in the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup in Group A on Thursday at Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
After losing their opening matches, both teams arrived in search of their first three points.
The first goal of the evening came from Lucia Garcia in the 15’ to place the hosts in the lead.
Monterrey kept the momentum going, with their second goal coming from a header by Carol Cazarez in the 32’. It marked Cazarez’s first goal with the club to double the lead against the Caribbean side.
Frazsiers Whip had a chance to get one goal back from a Davia Richards free kick in the 34’, but the attempt hit the crossbar.
Marcela Restrepo extended the lead for Rayadas in the 51’, sending the ball to the back of the net from a Jermaine Seoposenwe assist.
Restrepo completed her brace in the 66’ when she shot from outside the box to find the back of the Frazsiers Whip goal.
Monterrey captain Rebeca Bernal scored the fifth and final goal of the match in the 87’, ready in the area to react to a ball from Ana Martinez.
The win marked Monterrey’s first in the W Champions Cup. Their next challenge is against NWSL side NJ/NY Gotham FC on September 19 at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
Frazsiers Whip will welcome Tigres UANL Femenil on September 18 to kick off week 3 of Group A at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
