It would be fair to say that Inter Milan have had a turbulent last few weeks.

The Serie A title run-in has not gone according to plan for the Nerazzurri. In April, they squandered their advantage over Napoli.

Then, last weekend, Inter passed up a glorious opportunity to go back to the top of the table after blowing a lead against Lazio at the San Siro.

This weekend, Inter had to hope that the Partenopei would drop points against Cagliari on the final day. They did not.

Therefore, Inter watched on as Napoli celebrated the Serie A title. And they were left to reflect and regret after a season with too many errors and too much inconsistency.

In the meantime, Inter also skidded out of the Coppa Italia with a 3-0 loss to city rivals AC Milan. The same opposition who dealt Inter a hammer blow in the Supercoppa Italiana back in January.

It would be easy for Inter Milan to dwell on their shortcomings in domestic competitions this season.

However, the Nerazzurri have no time for that.

If there has been one aspect of Inter’s season that has not disappointed on any level it has been their exploits in Europe.

Inter have enjoyed a memorable Champions League campaign.

From a league phase that included memorable results against Manchester City and Arsenal to a knockout run that saw Inter eliminate Bayern Munich and Barcelona, they’ve reached another final.

And now, that is less than a week away.

Tomorrow, Inter return to training. They will have the weekend off to recharge and put the Serie A title failure out of their minds.

The team will face the world’s media tomorrow as the UEFA media day is upon them. And they will get to work.

The Nerazzurri know that their domestic failures will matter little if they can win next Saturday. So they’re getting ready to restart.
