Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has stated that it is unlikely that Liverpool will make a move for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele come the summer transfer window.

Earlier this week, Liverpool were linked with Dembele. The report stated that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was interested in making a summer move for the 22-year-old.

The report further stated that Liverpool were prepared to bid as much as £80 million for Dembele, but Balague has rubbished such claims.

The Spanish journalist believes that Liverpool have no interest in the forward due to his injury problems.

Balague said the following on his own personal Youtube channel: “People are suggesting in the media that Dembele is wanted by Liverpool, but I don’t think so. They are very aware of his injuries and it’s a risk to take for Liverpool even though, of course, Klopp would like that kind of player.”

I do agree with Balague that Dembele is the type of player that Klopp would like to work with.

He is young and has plenty of talent, but as it has been stated, the injuries are the main concern at this current moment. The club would not spend £80 million on an injury-prone footballer.

Also, the reality is that Dembele would not be a starter in Klopp’s first XI, which is another key reason why I don’t think the club would spend £80 million on the forward.

If Liverpool were to bring any attacking player in come the summer transfer window, it would appear to be RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, as he has been linked with a move to Anfield in various reports.
