Republic of Ireland international forward Rianna Jarrett has left London City Lionesses by mutual consent.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a squad update from London City Lionesses this evening.

Jarrett leaves The Pride after spending the last 18 months with the Barclays Women’s Championship club. The forward scored four goals for London City Lionesses in 13 league games. Jarrett’s progress at Princes Park has been severely hindered by a long-term injury.

The forward is now back to full fitness and needs game time so that she can prove her worth to national team boss Vera Pauw ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.

After her London City Lionesses exit was confirmed, Jarrett said “It’s bittersweet to be leaving London City after just 18 months, but I’m excited for the challenge ahead. It was a tough decision to make but one that I needed to make for myself.

“Being sidelined for 12 months has placed things into perspective for me and although it has been great to be back on the pitch for London City, I believe now is the right time to go home to try and build fitness and enjoy playing football again.

“I’d like to say thank you to London City for the opportunity over the last 18 months, but more importantly, understanding my decision to leave. I have some very fond memories from my time at the club and have met some amazing people.

“I wish the girls and management nothing but the best in their remaining games and hopefully, I will be back cheering them on at some point when they push to win the league. Until next time, Rianna.”

Jarrett made her final appearance for London City Lionesses in yesterday’s 5-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
