The project to renovate San Siro has been put forward to the two clubs AC Milan and Inter but a new problem has emerged before they can even evaluate things properly.

La Repubblica (via PianetaMilan) report that there are worries about the fact WeBuild have suggested that there cannot be concerts at the stadium, at least while the works are ongoing to bring the nearly 100-year-old facility up to scratch.

Some not very positive responses have come from exponents of the music world. In particular, Claudio Trotta – the Italian promoter of Bruce Springsteen – is the one to report the thoughts of the rock icon.

“I find this hypothesis unviable and fanciful. There are insurmountable legal, contractual and political issues. Contracts signed, commitments made, tickets already sold legitimately,” he said.

“If they were to move the events elsewhere, scenarios would open up that would lead to endless lawsuits between all the parties involved, with compensation that would involve the fans first and foremost on an economic and moral level, and all those entitled to it, such as promoters, producers, artists, workers and supplier companies involved.

“In short would anyone think of moving a season from La Scala to a sports hall? The public bought tickets for San Siro, not for a racecourse or a parking lot. After five years of disastrous management of the stadium issue, you cannot improvise a solution for the 2025 season when it is so close. It would be unacceptable.

Not only that, but Alessandro Giangi – a city councillor for the Democratic Party – also expressed his opinion on the matter and suggested that it is the communication which is an issue.

“We learn from the newspapers information that we should be able to read in another way. They told us that this document did not exist, I will request access to the documents to request it,” he said.

Alessandro De Chirico – a councillor for Forza Italia – also echoed this statement: “I was told that there was no dossier, I am preparing a complaint for failure to perform official duties.”
