Liverpool have strongly condemned the actions that led to Manchester United’s team bus pelted with bottles ahead of the Premier League match on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side travelled to Merseyside this weekend after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Bournemouth and Bayern Munich.

They were short of players and short of confidence, but still pulled off an impressive goalless draw.

Jurgen Klopp’s men dominated possession but failed to score after an excellent defensive display from United.

The result means Arsenal will remain at the top of the Premier League table following their 2-0 success over Brighton & Hove Albion.

There was some trouble before the blockbuster clash at Anfield as United’s team bus was damaged while it was on its way to the stadium.

No one was hurt but part of a window on the upper deck of the bus was smashed.

Liverpool have released a strong statement, condemning the ‘reprehensible behaviour’ and vowing to punish the culprits. Their statement read (per The Guardian): “Liverpool Football Club utterly condemns the actions that led to damage being caused to the Manchester United team bus during its arrival at Anfield this afternoon.

“We are aware of footage of the incident circulating online and are working with Merseyside Police, to fully investigate and identify those responsible.

“Any individuals found guilty of this reprehensible behaviour will also face the full force of the club’s sanction process.”

This is not the first incident a bus was attacked on the way to Anfield. Manchester City’s coach was damaged in October 2022, when its windscreen was broken after objects were thrown at it.

A similar incident also happened with the Liverpool team bus after their league match against City at the Etihad Stadium earlier this year.

Such actions are highly condemnable and those responsible should be punished severely.
