Reports Osimhen and Napoli stuck as Chelsea and Al-Ahli back away

The nightmare scenario for both parties would seem to be coming true, because multiple reports this evening suggest Victor Osimhen will stay at Napoli after the failure to agree transfers to Al-Ahli or Chelsea.

When the striker signed his new contract in December, the plan was always to sell for the €130m release clause in the summer, but nobody came anywhere near to that figure.

Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester United all looked elsewhere, while in the final hours of the transfer window, two different deals failed to go through.

Osimhen and Napoli both wanted more

According to Italian reports from Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, Napoli agreed the fee with Chelsea and Osimhen could not work out the personal terms, offering less than half his current €10m per season salary.

On the other hand, the Nigerian had agreed personal terms with Al-Ahli worth a massive €40m per season, with a relatively cheap release clause to be active from 2026, but Napoli asked for an extra €5m in bonuses on top of the €80m offered.

This angered the Saudi Pro League club, who instead turned to Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Now with the transfer deadline only an hour away, multiple sources claim Osimhen is stuck with Napoli, a situation neither of them wanted to be in.
