Genoa currently sit one point and one position above the Serie A relegation zone with just 10 points from their opening 12 games of the season. Venezia and Monza, in 19th and 20th place, are only two points behind the Grifone.

Reports Vieira will replace Gilardino at Genoa

Tuesday’s reports suggest that Vieira will be Gilardiono’s successor. The 2006 World Cup finalist has been on a coaching journey since he retired in 2011, beginning his journey with Manchester City’s youth teams, before progressing through New York City FC, OSG Nice, Crystal Palace and Strasbourg.

Vieira is also well acquainted with Genoa’s most high-profile player, Mario Balotelli, given the year they spent together at Manchester City in 2010-11.
