Manchester City striker Julián Álvarez is set to make a move to Spain to play for Atlético Madrid in a transfer which could be worth around €80 million.
This much is to be believed if you look at reports coming from Diario AS on Monday evening, which indicate that Argentinian media is touting that the move is a done deal.
The 24-year-old has made 103 appearances across the last two seasons at the English champions, scoring 36 times and bagging 17 assists, respectable numbers given he isn’t a guaranteed starter.
These numbers as well as his role in winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina have turned the heads of Atléti’s board, with a move now seeming imminent.
The young striker, who has also won two Premier League titles and a Champions League, would be set to further enhance Atléti’s attack, following the recent acquisition of Alexander Sørloth from Villarreal.
While the media in Argentina considers the matter closed, the same can’t be said for the Madrid club, which believes there is still work to be done to consider the transfer complete.
The remaining negotiations will be well worth keeping a close eye on, as this could possibly be the biggest move left to be made in Spanish football this summer, after an already momentous transfer window so far.
