Manchester City have announced that Ferran Torres has suffered a small fracture to his right foot and will continue to be monitored in Manchester following his return to the Premier League champions after his exploits for Spain in the UEFA Nations League finals.

Earlier today, reports from MARCA in Spain revealed that new tests carried out in Manchester upon the Spaniard's return to England had detected a small fracture in his right foot, with Torres facing a minimum of a month and a half out of action according to the initial checks.

MARCA's Juan Castro writes that except for a last-minute miracle, Spain's Nations League semi-final hero will be unable to feature for Luis Enrique's side against Greece and Sweden in World Cup qualifying next month.

The 21-year-old forward suffered the foot injury early on in the second half of the semi-final following his first-half brace against Roberto Mancini's Italy side, the current European champions, in a challenge by Chelsea's Jorginho.

Unfortunately, Torres started in the Nations League final against France, playing around 84 minutes, probably aggravating the injury in the process.

With Torres potentially missing around seven games, including games against the likes of Burnley and Crystal Palace at home, the injury could not have come at a worse time for the striker and Pep Guardiola.
