According to leading football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, striker Edinson Cavani has successfully agreed to extend his contract at Manchester United.

Cavani, 34, joined United last summer and although the striker had the opportunity to stay for two years, there were recent suggestions that the South American could look to move on after just his first year.

However, following what has been a hugely impressive debuting campaign in England’s top-flight for the veteran striker, according to Romano, Cavani is set to remain a United player next season.

Following the side’s qualification into the Champions League next season and with a Europa League final set to be played against Villarreal at the end of the month, Cavani’s first season will go down as a success and could be topped off with him lifting a major trophy.

The club is yet to officially announce an agreement has been reached, however, it surely will just be a matter of time until a statement is made.
