In very timely fashion, Empoli midfielder Ismaël Bennacer appears to be all set to join AC Milan in the coming days.

The news that Milan were targeting 22-year old Empoli midfielder Ismaël Bennacer broke on Thursday afternoon as Empoli’s sporting director Pietro Accardi was at Milan to finalize the last details of Rade Krunic’s transfer to Milan.

And just in the matter of hours, the signing of Ismaël Bennacer became reality. On Thursday night’s Calcio Mercato L’Originale, respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that it was a done deal for €16m plus €1million in add-ons.

Other trusted Sky Italia reporter, Fabrizio Romano, adds that Bennacer is set to sign a five-year deal with the Rossoneri.

Bennacer had his breakthrough season with Empoli last season. Even though Empoli were relegated on the last game day, Bennacer was instrumental for the team keeping their head over the surface that long.

The player is currently competing in the African Cup of Nations with Algeria, who’re about to play the round of 16’s against Guinea.

Di Marzio also said that Milan are planning on making a few more important signings this summer. The club will be targeting a centreback and another midfielder.
