Reports in Italy suggest that Bologna are considering terminating their loan deal for Aston Villa’s Samuel Iling-Junior ahead of schedule after a disappointing return to Serie A over the last few months.
Iling-Junior joined Aston Villa from Juventus alongside Enzo Barrenechea in the summer, around the same time that Douglas Luiz moved in the opposite direction. Both Iling-Junior and Barrenechea were immediately sent out on loan moves away from Villa Park.
The Englishman came through Chelsea’s academy but went on to represent Juventus’s Next Gen side and later the first team under Massimiliano Allegri. Despite his pedigree, however, outlets in Italy suggest that he has had ‘little to no impact’ since joining Bologna in the summer.
As the Rossoblu negotiated a straight loan deal with no buy option in the summer, they are able to terminate the agreement with Aston Villa, according to reports from TuttoBolognaweb and Il Corriere dello Sport.
To date, Iling-Junior has made just five appearances in Serie A, but did find the net during a 2-2 draw with Como in mid-September, his only goal involvement this season.
