Atalanta famously finished third this past season, leaving Milan in fifth place and out of the Champions League. The Bergamo side needs to use a different stadium for their UCL games and San Siro seems to be it.

According to multiple reports from Spazio, L’Eco Bergamo, and CalcioFinanza, Milan have given the okay. Originally Milan was leaning towards rejecting the proposal but seemed to have a change of heart.

No details have emerged as to why the change, but potentially Milan could be gaining financially from Atalanta’s usage.

Atalanta is currently renovating their stadium which is partly why they have requested the San Siro for the campaign. The risk of it not being finished in time is real, but also the desire to have a higher capacity for games is crucial for the side.

This will be the first time the club has played in the Champions League and also marks the highest finish in Serie A by Atalanta ever.
