CBS reporter Ben Jacobs claims Scott McTominay is likely to leave Manchester United in the summer.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move away to Newcastle during the January transfer window, as per The Telegraph, but the Magpies never made a former offer to sign him.

McTominay will need to decide at the end of the season whether he wants to remain a squad option or become a regular elsewhere. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have now established themselves as Erik ten Hag’s first-choice midfield pairing and I don’t think that will change in McTominay’s favour.

There is no rush to sell McTominay which means United won’t need to be pressured into a sale that doesn’t match their valuation of the player. His contract runs until 2025, and United have the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, popular reporter Ben Jacobs said: “What we do know about Manchester United is that Scott McTominay will, in all likelihood, leave in the summer, and Newcastle were interested.

“So, they may look to make some kind of central midfield reinforcement.”
