Celtic, the champions of Scotland, locked horns with Rangers recently to secure the services of Stephen Odey, but the Gers were reportedly leading the race following sporting director Ross Wilson’s preliminary talks with Randers FC. Meanwhile, the Nigerian has now opened up on his future, as quoted by amtsavisen.dk.

Odey is focused on the Randers stint but, at the same time, has kept the doors open by admitting his interest in a potential transfer.

Revealed the centre-forward who only had his move permanent last year.

Why Rangers Should Step Up The Chase

Odey was loaned out to Amiens, and the season-long stint helped him regain his confidence with six goals in 28 league appearances for the Ligue 2 outfit. But he was no more in Genk’s plan as the club accepted Randers loan (with an option to buy) offer last summer. A blistering start to life in Demark earned him a contract valid until the summer of 2024. The 24-year-old Nigerian fired in 14 goals in 33 outings across competitions, and his resurgence grabbed the attention of the Scottish giants.

Rangers, on the other hand, are sweating over the future of Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian hitman has entered the final year of his Ibrox deal, and the persistent injury problems have refrained Kemar Roofe from featuring week in, week out.

Cedric Itten has been offloaded after failing to meet Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s demands, whereas the gaffer does not fancy Fashion Sakala as an outright centre-forward. The Dutchman relied on midfield ace Joe Aribo as a makeshift ‘False 9’ in both the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals and the Light Blues, therefore, require reinforcements in the attacking third.

The Gers are pursuing PAOK targetman Antonio Čolak to bolster themselves high up the pitch. Having said that, they must revive interest in Odey given his pace, power and flexibility across the frontline.
