During the 2021 summer transfer window, it was reported that Liverpool were interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma.
However, the 25-year-old is still contracted to the Seagulls.
Despite that being the case, Bissouma could be available for a cut-price fee come January due to the fact that he only has two years left on his deal, according to the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch’s Twitter account.
The midfielder possesses a current market value of €25 million.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Bissouma has proven to be a fine servant for Brighton. The midfielder has made 101 appearances for the club’s first-team.
Bissouma averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.98 across the 2020-21 Premier League campaign, which highlights that he does possess quality.
Bissouma is only 25 years of age, so he is entering his prime years.
Midfielder Gini Wijnaldum departed Liverpool and signed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer during the 2021 summer transfer window. However, the Reds did not replace the Dutchman.
Bissouma would be a decent replacement for Wijnaldum. The Mali midfielder has recently stated that he would like to play for a Champions League club.
The Reds have qualified for the Champions League group stages for the past four seasons. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are genuinely interested in signing Bissouma.
