Reported Ajax target Owen Wijndal not determined to emigrate | OneFootball

AZ Alkmaar left-back Owen Wijndal has hinted that he may be open to a move to Ajax this summer.

Wijndal has been heavily linked with Premier League side Leeds, but in an interview on Friday the 21-year-old suggested leaving his home country was not inevitable.

“No, I don’t necessarily have to leave the Eredivisie. Whether that is an annoying question? No, you can ask me what you want!” the Netherlands international told ESPN (via Football Oranje).

“You might think that’s because of media training, but we don’t even have that here.

“I’m not saying this because I have to, but because I just really don’t know what’s going to happen.”

With Nicolás Tagliafico all but certain to leave Ajax this summer, the Amsterdam side will be in the market for a new left-sided defender.

Wijndal’s words will pique Ajax’s interest, but any switch may have to wait until he returns from Dutch duty at Euro 2020.
