Manchester United to retain faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the clash against Tottenham Hotspur later this month

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Football.london], Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to lead his side out when they travel to North London to play Tottenham Hotspur later in October.

Both sides face off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 30. United find themselves in a crisis of sorts following the 4-2 loss to Leicester City yesterday. The loss sees them concede space at the top of the Premier League table and show the soft underbelly the squad possesses.

With a series of difficult games to come, it was questioned if Solskjaer who is yet to win a single major honour will continue to hold the sway at Old Trafford. Spurs can at the very least prepare for the tie knowing that the Norwegian will be in charge until then at least.

Solskjaer signed a three-year deal earlier in the summer and the club appears to have enough faith in him. The Red Devils have currently won just two of their last seven games in all competitions.

With matches under Atalanta and Liverpool to come, they could be in a do or die situation by the time they travel to face Spurs. Solskajer’s men have shown little mettle to perform when the stakes are high and it could play right into our hands.

United for all their money spent lack a proper identity and are there for the taking. More so, Solskajer has shown little inclination in making changes whether it be in tactics or personnel. Whether the Norwegian is just out of his depth at the top level remains to be seen.

Having him on the opposing side, especially given that we are still figuring our identity under Nuno Espirito Santo is welcome news. With United set to play Liverpool before facing us, the Red Devils could arrive in North London ripe for the taking. The last thing Spurs need if for a new manager to come in and restructure things.

Spurs too face a pivotal set of games and will need to pick up points wherever they can. It will do little to gloat at ur rivals’ difficulties if we cannot do our job properly.
