Rafinha has found a new home with Paris Saint-Germain. Since joining from FC Barcelona over the recent summer transfer window, Rafinha has made several appearances in UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 play so far this season. However, Rafinha could have been a PSG player long ago if manager Thomas Tuchel had his way before.

Tuchel had been interested in Rafinha for over the past two years and inquired to PSG’s board about such a move, according to a report from Le Parisien. The report details Rafinha’s early run with PSG and dropped this small detail about Tuchel’s long interest in the Brazilian midfielder. Tuchel finally got his way as PSG signed the midfielder on a free transfer move while also adding a contract extension deal in the agreement.

Rafinha should continue to receive opportunities to showcase his midfield play over the rest of the season. The play from him in the midfield has proved to be key for Tuchel’s side so far this season.
