According to a recent report by Calciomercato, Everton could be offered a chance to swap Moise Kean for AS Roma wing wizard Justin Kluivert this summer. The same source has also reported that a two-year loan deal might be on the cards for Kean and Kluivert which could be made easier by the super-agent, Mino Raiola, who represents both players. It is believed that the Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti is a long-term admirer of the Roma wide player as he wanted him during his time as the manager of Napoli (via Calciomercato).

Kluivert’s Rollercoaster Of A Campaign At The Stadio Olimpico

Kluivert has endured a season of mixed emotions as he has scored some crucial goals for his side but has often lacked creativity in the final third. His inconsistent form has raised some questions marks over his ability to deliver world-class performances at the highest level.

The 21-year-old has banged in seven goals and provided two assists in 27 matches for AS Roma this term on all fronts which sheds light on his prolific nature and creative struggles in the decisive end of the field. He has averaged 2.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Serie A and the UEFA Europa League this season (stats via whoscored). Kluivert’s numbers suggest that he has the potential to improve his productivity in the years to come as he is doing all the right things going forward.

The former Ajax prospect has also represented the Netherlands at various youth levels before going on to secure two senior caps for his country thus far. However, he is still waiting to net his first goal at the international stage. Maybe, a summer switch to Goodison Park could provide him with a bigger platform to showcase his skills and catch the attention of Ronald Koeman ahead of the UEFA European Championship finals next year after the competition got postponed due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

What Will The Dutch Youngster Add To Carlo Ancelotti’s Side?

Kluivert can use his pace and agility to complete some penetrative dribbles out on the wide areas. He has a low centre of gravity that allows him to get the better of his marker in the final third. The Dutch speedster also packs a lot of power with his strikes from long range but can improve his finishing in front of goal.

He is also quite tidy with his ball-distribution after completing 83.4% of his attempted passes in the Serie A this season (stats via whoscored). However, Kluivert has sometimes lacked the invention to create some goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates in the opposition half, which explains why he has only two assists to show for his efforts this term.

Swapping Kean For Kluivert: Good Move For The Merseyside Outfit?

Kluivert will undoubtedly be an upgrade over Moise Kean who has only scored one goal and grabbed two assists in 26 appearances for the Toffees this term in multiple competitions. The Dutch starlet will not only add more goals and pace to the Everton attack but also enhance the overall quality of Ancelotti’s first-team at Goodison Park.

The Zaandam-born winger will provide some healthy competition for the likes of Richarlison, Bernard, Alex Iwobi, Theo Walcott and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the race to secure a regular starting berth at Merseyside next season. Ancelotti will also get the freedom to tweak his formations, tactics and teamsheets more often if he can find a way to swap Kean out for Kluivert this summer.
