Barcelona are covering more than 50% of Tottenham star Clement Lenglet’s wages

According to Football. London, Barcelona are covering more than 50% of new Tottenham signing Clement Lenglet‘s wages during his loan spell at N17.

The talented French centre-back joined Spurs from Barcelona on a season-long loan after falling out of favour under Xavi Hernandez during the latter part of last campaign for the Spanish club.

Ever since he came here and started playing for the Lilywhites, Lenglet has looked solid and really impressed with his performances from the back under Antonio Conte during the pre-season.

Lenglet did not start Spurs’ first game of the season against Southampton in which the North London club emerged 4-1 winners but the Frenchman was given his debut late into the second half.

There is absolutely no doubt that the French centre-back is only going to be seeing more game time as the months go on and he has the potential to be a really huge player for Antonio Conte.

Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2019 and initially really impressed for the Spanish giants. He got a prominent role in the team due to the absence of Samuel Umtiti through injury.

However, things turned sour eventually when mistakes started creeping into Lenglet’s game and he was found wanting on occasions. He gradually saw his game time reduced with the emergence of players like Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia.

Regardless, Lenglet has the talent and especially whilst playing in a back three like the one Conte deploys, he can drive forward with the ball at his feet and his passing is incredible.

Lenglet at Spurs is expected to be a happy story. If things go according to plan, then there is no doubt that Conte will want to sign him permanently next season.
