Paris Saint-Germain continues to be linked as a possible destination for Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo. The 37-year-old is reportedly pondering his future at Old Trafford and is open to the idea of playing with Lionel Messi.

The Independent reports that while PSG is looking to offload Neymar this summer, Ronaldo would be keen to try Ligue 1, a competition in which he has never played. A move would mean Messi and his longtime rival would be teammates in the French capital.

Although it would be interesting to see the two players play as teammates, this idea would go against the capital club’s new idea of steering away from star players that would attract eyeballs and advertisers to the French giants.

PSG wants to build a team that can function as a unit and win the UEFA Champions, even if it means getting players who don’t have name recognition. Furthermore, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano put some cold water on the Brazilian possibly exiting this summer amid rumors of a departure.

“At the moment, Neymar’s situation is full of rumors, but there is no offer,” Romano writes. “Those close to Neymar ensure that his will is to stay at Paris Saint-Germain to win the Champions League in France.”

“So far, there have been no advanced negotiations, and I think it should be remembered that Neymar signed a new contract with PSG just a year ago with a huge salary. It will be a difficult negotiation for everyone; this scenario could change only in case of salary coverage beyond 50% by Paris.”

If Neymar stays, it’s doubtful Ronaldo will come to PSG.
