Formerly linked with a move to Inter, Franco Mastantuono will soon become a new Real Madrid star.

Indeed, Los Blancos have ironed out the final details of his transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the new Argentina international will feature for the Millonarios in the FIFA Club World Cup this month.

Mastantuono’s switch to Madrid is a done deal, hence River’s frantic pursuit of a quality replacement.

Their search has taken them to Valentin Carboni, whose future at San Siro is hanging by a thread.

Despite his undeniable talent, the 20-year-old has failed to launch his senior career in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Inter tried to get him back on track with a season-long loan spell at Olympique Marseille in 2024/25.

However, a long-term injury cut his Ligue 1 stint out, forcing Carboni to return to base in January.

The versatile forward is close to regaining full fitness, perhaps in time to complete a medical at a new club.
