As we all know now, Julian Nagelsmann will be the new coach of Bayern Munich next season.
But a report from Dutch outlet Voetbal International claims the Bundesliga champions were working on a contingency plan in case their Nagelsmann pursuit fell through.
According to their information, Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was Bayern’s Plan B.
The Dutchman previously coached Bayern Munich II between 2013 and 2015, and this weekend he lifted his fourth major honour in charge of Ajax with the Eredivisie title.
Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly also interested in Ten Hag’s services, but the 51-year-old ended speculation about his future by signing a contract extension with Ajax late last week.
