Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid has become increasingly uncertain, with growing indications that his time at the Santiago Bernabeu may be drawing to a close.
According to a report from Real Madrid Confidencial, both Manchester City and Manchester United are closely monitoring the Brazilian forward’s situation, with a potential transfer becoming more likely as the summer window approaches.
The tipping point appears to be Rodrygo’s request for a salary increase—something that Madrid’s board reportedly interprets not as a sign of commitment, but rather a strategic move to engineer a departure.
Club president Florentino Perez is said to be calm about the situation, indicating that a clear roadmap already exists for Rodrygo’s exit, should the right offer come in.
Madrid are believed to be holding out for a figure close to €80 million, which would make the 24-year-old one of the most high-profile departures of the summer.

According to reports, the club is already anticipating a formal offer, with interest from Manchester City stretching back to last season.
A move to the Etihad was close before Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph at Wembley last year put a pause on the deal. This time, however, the exit looks far more inevitable.
While Rodrygo has provided iconic moments in a Madrid shirt, most notably in Champions League comebacks, his inconsistency this season has raised doubts about whether he can truly reach the level expected of a Galactico.
In that regard, the current season has been underwhelming by his standards, and though he still has a few matches left in the domestic campaign, it is clear that Madrid’s leadership no longer view him as untouchable.
If Rodrygo is indeed sold for €80 million, it would be a significant financial boost for Madrid, offering flexibility to strengthen other areas or reinvest in emerging talent.
Whether he can make a final statement in the last five La Liga matches may determine how he is remembered in Madrid. But one thing is clear: a chapter appears to be closing.
