Real Madrid is diligently working on renewing the contracts of Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy, which are set to expire in 2025, claims a report from AS.

This effort comes in light of the postponed signing of Alphonso Davies, now planned for 2025. With this delay, Real Madrid have mapped out a careful strategy for managing their full-back positions.

It is said that Carvajal’s contract renewal is a top priority for the club. He is considered one of the best right-backs globally, and his renewal will be handled with special care.

Real Madrid traditionally offer one-year contract extensions to players over 30 and for Carvajal, this will not pose a problem as he has proven his longevity.

Real Madrid believe Carvajal can maintain his high level of performance until at least 2026. Because of this confidence, they are not urgently searching the market for another right-back.

What about Ferland Mendy?

Mendy’s situation is somewhat different. With the anticipated signing of Davies in 2025, Mendy’s place as the starting left-back is not guaranteed beyond this season.

Mendy finds himself in an unusual position, entering the final year of his contract without a clear renewal plan.

The club’s confidence in Mendy, supported by coach Carlo Ancelotti who considers him one of the best defensive left-backs, suggests that a renewal is possible.

However, this renewal has been delayed to assess Mendy’s physical condition, given his past injuries. He has demonstrated his resilience by playing every minute of the knockout rounds in the last Champions League campaign, proving his fitness.

The negotiation for Mendy’s renewal will differ from Carvajal’s. Since Mendy is under 30, his new contract could extend beyond 2026.

The decision will depend on Mendy’s plans and the attractive offers he continues to receive from clubs in the Middle East.
