Paris Saint-Germain decided last year to part ways with manager Thomas Tuchel despite the German tactician leading the capital club to its only UEFA Champions League final appearance.

The Ligue 1 side fired Tuchel during the holiday break and appointed former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, who also played for the club. Meanwhile, Tuchel didn’t stay unemployed for long as Chelsea scooped him up to replace Frank Lampard.

Chelsea would go on to win the Champions League while PSG would crash out in the semi-finals to Manchester City. Even though The Blues came away with Europe’s top prize Le Parisien (via Le10Sport) reports that the capital club has no regrets regarding its decision.

The French media outlet reveals that the players in the PSG squad felt as though Tuchel had lost interest in the job. Furthermore, Le Parisien also details that Tuchel allowed the players to cut corners and avoid accountability, and the squad grew tired of the German tactician’s message.

In contrast, Pochettino is more flexible but very demanding, which is much more appreciated by the squad; meanwhile, Tuchel was working more on the tactical aspect.
