Report: Neymar willing to take pay cut to join Barcelona

As is the case every year since Neymar swapped Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain, any minor or major event on the pitch translates to rumours of a reunion between the Brazilian and the Catalans. The rumour mill has once again started churning out speculation of Neymar’s return to Barcelona, with Spanish media at the forefront, fanning the flames as enthusiastically as ever.

SPORT has always been a publication to push the Neymar agenda onto Barcelona fans, which has repeatedly proven to be the case. The full-time whistle at the Etihad had barely been blown, as Manchester City inflicted yet another painful Champions League elimination on Neymar and PSG, as the media outlet began stating that the Brazilian could be on his way back to Spain.

The report suggests that after another Champions League quest ending in bitter disappointment for Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar is willing to take a salary cut and do whatever it takes to make a return to Barcelona.

The fanbase remains divided as ever, with one side happy to potentially have him back, while the other side believes he is not the solution. The finances of the deal remain a great question mark of course, since despite the wage issues, his transfer fee could pose an issue till he is in contract with PSG.

After agreeing to a renewal with the French giants multiple times regarding a new deal, but not officially putting pen to paper, it is now believed that the new contract is a ‘dead letter’ following PSG’s elimination.

These reports have been fairly unreliable and reactionary in the past, and fresh off PSG’s CL exit, these rumours feel like no exception. However, the Neymar-Barcelona saga never seems to end, and there will undoubtedly be more wild speculation in the coming weeks.
