Liverpool has opened what appear to be the most serious and advanced negotiations yet with Mohamed Salah, according to a report by Masrawy. The club is working closely with Ramy Abbas, Salah’s long-time agent, in an attempt to renew the Egyptian’s contract before it expires at the end of the 2024–2025 season.
“Liverpool’s management has opened talks with Ramy Abbas, Mohamed Salah’s agent, to extend the Egyptian star’s contract with the club during this period,” a source told Masrawy. The tone, this time around, feels notably different. There is, at last, a sense that Liverpool are willing to match both Salah’s ambition and his market value.
In what could prove to be a significant move, the source added: “The negotiations between Liverpool and Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, are much more advanced than ever before. Also, the offer currently on the table is higher than any previous offer made to the player.”
This isn’t just posturing or PR — Liverpool appear to be serious about retaining one of their modern greats. And rightly so.
One of the intriguing parts of the Masrawy report is the suggestion that Salah’s potential renewal may be connected to another significant shift — the possible departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold. “Trent Alexander-Arnold’s potential departure from Liverpool could play a major role in Salah’s contract renewal, as the club is reducing high wages in the squad — which would allow them to offer Salah the deal he wants with the Reds.”

While it’s hard to fathom the Anfield hierarchy letting both players leave in short succession, the wage-bill recalibration could be central to Liverpool’s strategic reboot. Should Alexander-Arnold depart for Real Madrid, as multiple reports have indicated, Liverpool could redirect those resources to secure Salah’s final peak years.
This isn’t just a contract for sentiment’s sake. Salah’s output this season remains staggering. The 32-year-old has played 43 matches in all competitions, scored 32 goals, and delivered 22 assists. In the Premier League, he leads the scoring charts with 27 goals, six ahead of Erling Haaland.
He remains, quite simply, indispensable. Salah is not just an icon; he is a production line, a talisman, and the closest thing Liverpool have to a sure thing. As the next managerial era beds in, having Salah in the dressing room offers not only continuity but credibility.
As Liverpool supporters, there’s no escaping the emotional weight of this development. Salah has earned more than just respect; he’s earned the right to call Anfield home for as long as he desires. The numbers don’t lie — 32 goals and 22 assists in 43 games is beyond world-class. He’s ageing like a fine Bordeaux and still delivering match-winning performances.
Renewing Salah’s deal would send a strong message: that Liverpool are not in transition, but evolution. For younger players, for the dressing room culture, and for fans who’ve made Salah their king, this is more than business. It’s legacy.
Letting Salah go now, especially when he’s outperforming younger stars across Europe, would be unthinkable. Give him what he wants. He’s earned it.
