AC Milan have been plotting a move for Charles De Ketelaere since August 2021 and it was Paolo Maldini who convinced the player to wait, a report claims.
As has been reported by HLN in Belgium (via Milan News), former Milan player and current scout Dario Simic was the first person to point the young Belgian out to the Milan hierarchy.
The first contact between the player and Milan took place in August 2021. They were not the only ones though. Paris Saint Germain were also interested and sent scouts to a lot of his games.
Milan continued to watch him for a few months and became more convinced that he had enough quality to make a move for at some point in the near future.
Paolo Maldini then intervened and basically asked the player to wait for Milan to make an approach for him. That is what he did and that is why he had no interest in Leeds United.
