Manchester United are reportedly set for transfer talks with free agent Adrien Rabiot to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s midfield options.

The France international is available as a free transfer after his contract expired at Juventus last season.

The Frenchman has reportedly turned down several clubs in Turkey with the belief he can perform for a top European club.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star has previously been close to joining the Red Devils back in 2022 in Ten Hag’s debut season.

Rabiot’s potential move to Old Trafford broke down after the club couldn’t agree on personal terms and extra agent fees in the deal.

Manchester United fans are eagerly waiting for the new midfielder Manuel Ugarte to make his debut after the international break.

Rabiot is a different playing-profile to the new Old Trafford addition with the former Juventus man able to play as a box-to-box midfielder.

The potential free transfer could be shrewd business for the Red Devils because they would be getting a player with vast experience of playing Champions League football.

Manchester United bosses set for Adrien Rabiot talks

Manchester United have held an interest in Rabiot previously due to his capability of being a strong option in the squad.

Under Ineos, it seems that the new footballing structure is always on the lookout for potential improvements as they plan to improve Ten Hag’s squad in the coming seasons.

Speaking on the potential move for the 29-year-old, the Daily Star’s chief Sports Writer Jeremy Cross has said: “It’s understood United bosses will hold talks with Rabiot, 29, as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his midfield options ahead of what will prove to be a long and demanding season.”
