Carlton Palmer: Manchester United not keen to sell Paul Pogba

Speaking to Football Fancast, pundit Carlton Palmer has revealed that Manchester United are not keen to part ways with French midfielder Paul Pogba in the summer

The 27-year-old has just over a year to go on his current deal and has been linked with a move away. A return to former side Juventus has been doing the rounds for a while now.

Pogba established himself as a world-class player in Turin. A return to the Allianz Stadium would see Pogba return to his former stomping grounds.

Palmer believes United have no intention of selling the player in the summer. He also attributed our losing the Premier League summit to Manchester City to the Frenchman’s absence.

“United won’t sell him. While [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer is manager of the football club, they won’t sell him, they won’t sell him. He’s a phenomenal talent and, listen, they fell off challenging for the league when Pogba picked up that thigh injury.”

He went on to add that the midfielder brings something unique to the table. It was certainly the case earlier this year when he kept finding answers for Untied in key wins over Burnley and West Ham United.

“I just think he brings something different to the table.”

No choice!

“I don’t believe that there’s any way, in any shape or form, that Man United or Ole will sell Paul Pogba.”

In an ideal world, Palmer’s statement would have held true. However with a year left on his deal, United would be playing a dangerous game by not listening to offers tom Pogba.

Staying on at Old Trafford could potentially see the player leave on a free in a year’s time. Losing such a world-class talent for nothing would be very poor business.

While we would like for Pogba to stay put and continue to contribute, his contract puts us at a disadvantage. At the end of the day, we have to do what is best for the club and might well have to cash in this summer.
