Manchester United have already made headlines by landing Bryan Mbeumo, but the club’s transfer activity is far from over. According to a recent report by GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are now accelerating efforts to complete a £90 million double deal for Javi Guerra and Benjamin Sesko — and there’s growing belief these two additions would represent an even greater step forward than the signing of the Brentford star.
United are reportedly “working quickly” to secure deals for Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, in a bid to supercharge Ruben Amorim’s first season in charge. With €105m (£90m) potentially on the table for the pair, it’s clear the new manager sees them as foundational pillars for his rebuild.
Amorim “clearly needs a striker who can make a difference,” and Sesko fits that mould perfectly. His Bundesliga and Champions League experience make him a standout choice. The Slovenian international bagged 13 goals in 33 appearances last season — the highest in Leipzig’s squad — and also ranked second for shots per game (2.1) and third for dribbles per game (1.2). As GiveMeSport note, “Sesko has huge Bundesliga and Champions League credentials as well as experience and reliability on the international scene.”

Guerra, meanwhile, is a rising La Liga star. At just 21, he’s already amassed 89 appearances for Valencia and would inject much-needed youth and energy into a United midfield still reliant on ageing legs. His addition would help fill the growing void left by Casemiro’s decline and Christian Eriksen’s expired contract.
Make no mistake: Mbeumo was one of the Premier League’s standout performers last season, scoring 20 goals across all competitions for Brentford. His arrival undoubtedly strengthens United’s front line. However, as GiveMeSport rightly point out, “both deals would be bigger than the major Mbeumo move.”
That’s because Sesko and Guerra address deeper squad deficiencies. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee only combined for seven Premier League goals last season. And in midfield, United looked static and short of drive — something Guerra’s box-to-box presence could remedy.
Of course, to fund these additions, United will likely need to sell. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all mentioned as potential departures, with the trio commanding significant market value. It’s a delicate balancing act, but one the club must manage if it wants to return to the elite tier of English football.
From a Manchester United fan’s perspective, this feels like the sort of transfer activity supporters have been craving for years — proactive, ambitious, and rooted in clear squad needs.
Benjamin Sesko isn’t just a high-potential striker — he’s a proven goalscorer at club and international level. His 13-goal Bundesliga campaign, combined with his 16 goals in 41 appearances for Slovenia, speaks volumes. With Hojlund still developing and Zirkzee underwhelming, Sesko would be a marquee signing who could shoulder the attacking load immediately.
As for Javi Guerra, while not a household name in England, his consistent presence in La Liga at just 21 is hugely promising. United fans have seen their midfield overrun too many times in recent seasons. Guerra would add much-needed stamina, composure and drive — traits that have been sorely lacking since the decline of Eriksen and Casemiro.
There’s understandable caution about offloading players like Garnacho, whose talent is undeniable. But if those sales are what it takes to build a stronger, more balanced team, fans may be willing to accept it. The key is that this strategy feels like part of a long-term plan, something many supporters felt was absent in the previous regimes.
This could be a defining summer. If Sesko and Guerra arrive, it won’t just be a squad refresh — it could be the beginning of a genuinely competitive new era at Old Trafford.
