Cristiano Ronaldo could be the key to Paul Pogba signing off on a new Manchester United contract

Citing information provided by The Athletic (Subscription Required), The Sun claim that Paul Pogba loves the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United, and this could now play a factor in the Frenchman signing a new contract.

The midfielder has been brilliant for the Red Devils this season as he has laid on seven assists in just as many league games this season. However, speculation has been rife regarding his future as he is yet to commit his long-term future to the Old Trafford outfit.

Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint Germain are said to be keen on getting a deal over the line for the French international.

In fact, they could enter into talks with the 28-year-old in January if Pogba does not sign a new contract by the end of this year.

Could Ronaldo be the reason for Pogba to stay?

However, in some positive news for the Manchester-based club, the former Juventus man could end up staying at the club, and the key reason for it could be summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese has added almost an air of invincibility at the club and has also brought about a never-say-die attitude. This was visibly clear when the Portuguese popped to score the winner against Villarreal in added time last month.

Pogba is thought to be loving the club legend’s return, and it could now persuade him to put pen to paper on a new deal. United are apparently offering the Frenchman a contract worth £400,000-per-week, which would make him one of the top earners at the club.

However, with less than 12 months on his contract, the midfielder would have to make a decision soon as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to keep his star man at the club beyond this season.
