Manchester United ready to fork out £43m for Saul Niguez

According to the Daily Star (h/t Teamtalk), Manchester United are ready to meet the £43m release clause of Saul Niguez.

The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their squad in the off-season. With Champions League football back on the agenda and the progress shown this season, we have the right pedestal to push forward and consolidate our gains.

One of the players under consideration is Atletico Madrid midfielder Niguez. The 26-year-old is an all action player who could be the driving force for us in the middle of the park.

The Spaniard has a relatively modest release clause that the Red Devils are now ready to pay. United will, however, have to battle the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich for the player’s signature.

Niguez, as per the report, has just over a year to go on his current deal and Atletico is keen to get top dollar for him this summer. The Spanish giants are keen to strengthen their finances following the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diego Simeone’s side will have to part ways with a superstar or two as they look to get their monetary stability back on track. The player, for his part, will be open to a move to the financially lucrative Premier League.

A key reinforcement?

With Paul Pogba’s future unclear and Nemanja Matic not getting any younger, the midfield is an area that needs reinforcing. In Niguez, United could very well land a proven player in his prime.

This is not the first time that we have been linked with the player. The Red Devils kept a keen eye on the Spaniard during David Moyes’ time in charge. Unfortunately, the Scot’s sacking saw us focus our attentions elsewhere.

Interestingly Teamtalk’s report contradicts what we already know about Niguez’s contract. According to the Express, the Spaniard not only has a massive release clause of £130m but also five years left on his current deal.

For now, it is better we take the news of his lowered release clause with a pinch of salt. Sooner or later the matter will clear itself up.
