Rather than for a lack of talent, the Cityzens made the decision after discovering that the youngster had trained with Barcelona while on holiday.

City staff had their concerns and the club decided to cut ties with the youngster. However, United were ready and took advantage of the situation by signing him just days later.

Shoretire progressed up the ranks and penned his first professional contract with the Red Devils earlier this month. The terms of the deal are said to be amongst the most lucrative ones offered to a player of his age. (h/t The Daily Mail)

United had to beat off interest from a number of sides who were keen on the youngster. European behemoths such as PSG, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Juventus were all interested in Shoretire.

The youngster has continuously punched above his age category at United. He made his UEFA Youth League debut as a 14-year-old, the youngest ever for the Red Devils.

It was reported last year that Shoretire has the potential to be as good as Jadon Sancho. It would appear that lightning does strike twice for you if you’re Manchester City.
