Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport lays out a shocking scenario that would entail Lorenzo Pellegrini’s departure from Roma in January.
Despite having reached 300 appearances with the Giallorossi on Wednesday evening against Sampdoria, Pellegrini is reportedly unhappy with his marginalized role.
The captain has hardly played at all since Claudio Ranieri returned to the club in November.
While being mostly kept on the bench, Pellegrini has had enough time to consider the possibility of an exit in January.
His agent is not on good terms with Roma and would be open to assessing options on the market for the Roman midfielder.
In January, with the market open, Pellegrini will evaluate the future together with the club: before Dybala entered Galatasaray’s good graces, he too had received signs of interest from Turkey.
If interesting proposals were to arrive, Pellegrini and Roma will examine them carefully.
In recent weeks Pellegrini understood that his contract, expiring in 2026, is no longer sustainable in terms of salary for a club that risks not participating in the next European cups, thus making his future and his position at the club even more unstable.
