A report in Spain is suggesting that Liverpool are ‘stepping up’ their efforts to try and sign Barcelona wonderkid Pedri this summer with Mundo Deportivo describing the player as a ‘priority transfer target’ for the Reds this transfer window.
The young midfielder looks a real talent for Barcelona and, naturally, they will be pinning their hopes of getting back on top in La Liga on him somewhat in the coming years.
Certainly, he looks a bright player and Mundo Deportivo, via the Liverpool Echo, is suggesting that Liverpool are particularly keen on getting him in.
The report claims that he is a ‘priority’ for Liverpool this summer and has a £70m minimum fee release clause in his current contract, though it’s quite possible he could remain at Barcelona with the Catalans currently looking to get a new deal sorted for him.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
It’s hard to see this one happening, in all truth.
The report claims he’s a priority for Liverpool this summer but he’s a teenager that would cost a lot of money by the looks of things, so you can’t see the Reds going for it right now.
Of course, he’s a very talented kid and would probably do well at Liverpool but you just can’t see him leaving Barcelona, especially as it looks as though he’s got a real shot at becoming a top player for them.
